D. R. Congo: Workshops with the communities of Rutshuru

From 22 to 26 February 2010, the Initiative for a cohesive leadership (an IRÉNÉ/ WWICS partnership) organized a forum in Goma with the Permanent Technical Committee “Pacification and Reconciliation” of the STAREC plan (Congolese government).

This forum gathered 65 leaders and notables from the six communities located on the Rutshuru territory. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the conditions for a better coexistence between Congolese citizens in this region. A multi-territorial forum, including the neighbouring territories of Rutshuru: Lubero and Beni-Butembo, is under consideration to extend the scope of this debate.
